Cellulite on the upper arms can be a result of different factors including activity and diet.

About Cellulite

Cellulite is a condition characterized by dimpled, lumpy appearance on the skin. Although it's more common in the buttocks and thighs, cellulite can also affect the upper extremities specifically the arms.

It's more common in women than in men basically due to the difference of distribution of fat, muscle, and connective tissues in the body.

The exact cause of cellulite is unknown but it seems to be a result of interaction between the connective tissues that lie below the surface of the skin and the subcutaneous or fat layer. Women are more prone to developing cellulite as their fat cells and connective tissues are arranged vertically whereas men have the criss-cross structure.

Aside from the gender, genetics and lifestyle also play a role in the development of cellulite. People who consume too much carbohydrates and fats are at higher risk of developing cellulite.

Getting Rid of Cellulite on the Upper Arms

Cellulite on the upper arms is more common among elderly female, especially after menopause. Aging causes the skin to thin and less elastic, making the dimpling appearance of cellulite more obvious.

Although it's very hard to completely get rid of cellulite, there are ways to reduce their appearance and prevent further progression. Some of these ways include:

  • Dietary changes
Excess weight can contribute to cellulite formation. Losing weight through making the necessary changes in your diet can help in reducing the appearance of cellulite on your arms. Replace empty-calorie food with nutrient-dense ones such as beans, vegetables, fruits, whole grains, fish, and low-fat dairy products.

  • Arm workout
Exercise is one way of preventing the progression of cellulite and reducing its appearance. Aside from cardio exercise, you can also do some strength training exercises. Strength training exercises can help tone your triceps and are great for reducing cellulite on your upper arms.

  • Compression therapy
Cellulite is common among those with inefficient lymphatic drainage. The use of compression garments such as Bioflect cellulite treatment garments can help in improving the circulation and drainage of stagnating fluids in the body, reducing the appearance of cellulite on the upper arms.
